Scottish Legal Complaints Commission announces change to rules
In the current process, before the SLCC proposes a settlement or makes a determination or direction, both the practitioner and the complainer are sent a draft for comment. This adds additional time to the process and we see this as a redundant step – there are ample opportunities for both parties to make representations during the process.
For this reason and following a consultation, for all new complaints from the 1st July 2014, the draft determination stage will no longer be part of the process.
