SLCC announces budget proposals for 2011-2012
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) is funded by a levy paid by legal practitioners operating in Scotland and today (28 January 2011) the SLCC announced its budget proposals for the next financial year which runs from 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2012.
Commenting on the proposed budget, SLCC CEO Rosemary Agnew said: "The SLCC is keen to propose a realistic budget that will enable us to carry out our statutory functions effectively.
"We recognise however, that we are operating in a challenging economic environment, so the expenditure has been kept to the same level as the current year.
"Importantly, although expenditure has remained the same, the SLCC aims to deliver a wider range of functions, particularly in relation to developing our oversight role."
The SLCC proposes a general levy below the amount needed to recover the full expenditure costs, reducing it since last year by £26. To enable this we propose to release £1,000,000 of reserves.
