SLCC is looking for new Members
The SLCC need diverse thinking and different perspectives and talents to deliver their role and are looking to appoint three members (one Legal and two Non-Legal).
Remuneration
A fee of £212 per day (non-pensionable) is payable. Members will also receive reimbursement for all reasonable travel and subsistence costs and any reasonable dependant-carer expenses incurred whilst undertaking Board duties and for support required to help members carry out their duties effectively.
Meetings
Full Board Meetings are held in Edinburgh on the last Tuesday of every second month (January, March etc.). On the last Tuesday of the other months, there is a “Performance Board” which lasts no more than an hour. While it is chaired from Edinburgh, Board Members not based in Edinburgh usually participate remotely (generally by Skype). Determination Committees are usually held on Wednesdays in Edinburgh; members often participate remotely.
Length of appointment term
Board members are appointed for a term of five years. Thereafter you can only apply to be on the board again after a minimum gap of three years.
No re-appointments are made to the SLCC board.
If appointed you will be expected to take up your position as either Legal or Non-legal Member on 1st April 2016. Each appointee will be expected to attend a two day induction, which is currently scheduled for 11th and 12th April 2016.
Location
The SLCC are located in Edinburgh where most meetings are held. However, members often participate in these meetings remotely (e.g. by Skype).
Interviews
Interviews will be held on the 27th and / or 28th January 2016 in Edinburgh.
