SLCC Launches Online Complaint Form
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC), the body for complaints about legal practitioners in Scotland, has launched an online complaint form on its website. Now members of the public can make complaints to the SLCC through the SLCC’s website at scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk.
The SLCC’s Head of Oversight David Buchanan-Cook said, “Making it easy for people to bring a complaint to us about a Scottish lawyer or law firm is very important and the new online complaint form will allow those who want to do this through the internet to do so easily. Anyone wanting to complete, sign and send in the current complaint form by email or post will still be able to do so.”
CEO Neil Stevenson added, “I’m delighted to see our team focussed on offering new and innovative ways to improve our own customer service, this year we also plan to look at research into consumer views on the standards they expect from legal services, establish better measures of consumer confidence in complaints handling and focus even more on resolving complaints at the earliest possible stage – something we know is valued by lawyers and the public.”
The SLCC was set up in 2007 and is an independent public body which receives complaints from the public about legal practitioners such as solicitors and advocates. If the complaint is accepted for investigation, it will then be investigated by SLCC (for complaints about service) or the Law Society of Scotland or the Faculty of Advocate (complaints about the conduct of individuals). The SLCC also offers mediation and other options to help resolve service complaints.
