SLCC welcomes 'lively debate' on the Regulation of Legal Services Bill
Commenting on the Stage 1 debate on the Regulation of Legal Services Bill, which took place in the Scottish Parliament on 22 February 2024, Neil Stevenson, SLCC Chief Executive said,
“There was a lively debate in Parliament yesterday about how to improve legal services regulation – including the complaints system – so it best protects consumers and meets the needs and expectations of the public.
"That is incredibly welcome. The SLCC has been calling for reform to the system since 2016, drawing on our experience of the complaints system, feedback from consumers and the profession, and international best practice. We’re delighted to see MSPs support the proposals and consider where further improvements could be made.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to continue to shape the best possible system for consumers and the legal services sector as the Bill progresses.”
