SLCC welcomes CMA review of legal services in England and Wales
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commissions welcomes the Competition and Markets Review of Legal Services in England and Wales, and believes any findings will also impact the sector north of the border.

Our office will be closed from 5pm on December 24th to 9am on January 5th. Under our current Rules, if you send a completed complaint form by post during this period, it will not be received by us until 5th January 2016. If you send us your complaint through our online complaint form, it will be received by us on the date it is received electronically (even if the office is closed).
If you are worried about our time limits, it may be best to use the online form. If you’re not sure, contact us before 24th December.

Scottish consumers receive £400k in redress for legal complaints through the SLCC
The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) agreed or awarded £400,000 from law firms in compensation, fee refunds and reductions for Scottish consumers in the past year, as we reveal in our Annual Report. This was during the period from 1st July 2014 to 31st June, when we also received 1009 new complaints about lawyers from the members of the public. The Report was laid before the Scottish Parliament on December 4th.

As Will Aid month comes to an end, the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) has released two new guides for consumers – on making a will and on dealing with executries (the process of dealing with someone’s property after they’ve died).
